Rathmullan Beach Trip

The Middle and Senior room had a wonderful trip to Rathmullan beach. First we walked about and looked for signs of heritage in the area. We then split into two groups. One group created works of art on the beach using the natural resources, built a sand dune and then played in the park. The second group explored the seashore and found an amazing amount of life living along the shore. We then swapped over.

We found  seaweeds including egg wrack, pom poms ( Vertebrata lanosa ), Sea Lettuce, Channeled wrack, bladderwrack, native oyster, pacific oyster, saddle oyster, ridged scallop, mussle, screw shell, clams, shore crab, hermit crab, velvet crab, barnacles, welks, periwinkle, common starfish, sand hoppers, razor clams, beadlet  anemone  snacklock anemone, shrimp, blenny, limpets, keel worm, spiral worm, honey comb worm, springtails.

To end, storm William came along to check the strength of the sand dunes. He was very impressed!

The children thoroughly enjoyed their day of active learning at the beach and were extremely well behaved.
